We review and round-up the best budget smartphones launched in 2018, covering prices under £200, under £300 and under £400. If you’re after a cheap, great value Android mobile, here’s our top favourites that we’ve tested this year – with dependable camera tech, strong specs, speedy performance and the very best battery life.
If your budget is under £200, our winner this year is the Moto G6.
Motorola has long reigned as the champion of cheap mobiles thanks to its G-series handsets, and 2018 is no different. We also highly recommend the Moto G6 Play and E5 Plus, which are even more affordable, plus the Alcatel 5.
Our favourite smartphones that we’ve reviewed under £300 include the Honor Play, Xperia XA2 and Moto G6 Plus, but the winner is the Honor 8X which is simply stunning value for money. That camera is feature-packed and smart, while the specs are incredible at this price point. We also really love the Pocophone F1, which can be grabbed for just under this asking price if you know where to look.
Under £400, you have lots of choice – and the Nokia 7 Plus is one of the best Androids around. We also love the Honor 10, and Xperia XA2 Ultra.
