Samsung introduced the thinnest and lightest 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab S5e tablet for € 420, as well as the updated affordable Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019) for € 210.
Samsung has just introduced two new tablets – the Galaxy Tab S5e and the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019). The first model, as the name suggests (by analogy with the upcoming smartphone Galaxy S10e), is a simplified version of the future flagship model Galaxy Tab S5 (its release date remains unknown). With the second no questions should arise – this is a new generation of the well-known available model Galaxy Tab A 10.5. Let’s start with a more interesting in terms of characteristics of the Galaxy Tab S5e.
Tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e stands out in the first place a record low thickness and weight. More specifically, the thickness of the metal case is only 5.5 mm, and the tablet weighs 400 g. And this is with a screen diagonal of 10.5 inches. The overall dimensions of the device are 245x160x5.5 mm. These indicators of thickness and weight give the novelty the right to claim the title of the thinnest and lightest tablet in its class. For comparison, the 11-inch model of the 2019-2019 Pro iPad Pro has a thickness of 5.9 mm and weighs 468 g. Pro).
Another distinctive feature of the Galaxy Tab S5e is a thin frame around the screen. The ratio of the screen area to the front panel of the Galaxy Tab S5e reaches 81.8%. For this indicator, the novelty surpasses the current flagship model Tab S4 (79%), but is slightly inferior to the iPad Pro (82.9%).
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is equipped with a Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels and a 16:10 aspect ratio. Alas, this tablet does not support pen input.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e tablet is equipped with a SoC Snapdragon 670 or Exynos (tests pointed at 7885) depending on the market, 4/6 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB of flash memory. The latter can be expanded with microSD cards with a capacity of up to 512 GB.
The main camera has a resolution of 13 megapixels, front – 8 megapixels. Battery capacity – 7040 mAh, there is support for fast charging. Samsung promises over 14 hours of video viewing.
The main and front cameras are characterized by a resolution of 13 and 8 megapixels, respectively. The latter can be used to unlock the device in the face, but also the purpose of unlocking is the fingerprint sensor built into the power button.
From the rest, you can note the USB-C connector (a 3.5 mm adapter is included) and four AKG speakers, like the older Tab S4 model. In addition, the Galaxy Tab S5e tablet is available with a branded cover with a keyboard and it supports the DeX function without the need for a docking station. It is enough to connect the tablet to the monitor via an HDMI-USB-C cable.
Out of the box, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e runs the Android 9 Pie with the new One UI interface.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e Tablet at € 420 for the basic version without an LTE modem, sales start on March 14th. For modification with LTE memory you will have to pay at least € 480, but you can only buy it from April 4. Buyers will be able to choose from three color options shown in the image above.
As for the more affordable Galaxy Tab A 10.5 model, which costs € 210, it is still equipped with an IPS screen with a diagonal of 10.1 inches and a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels. The new generation of SoC Snapdragon 450 has replaced Exynos 7904, which is also expected to be installed in the upcoming Galaxy A30 smartphone. The amount of internal memory is 32 GB, but it expands with microSD cards, but the amount of RAM is non-alternative 2 GB, which can scare away many potential buyers.
The capacity of the Galaxy Tab A 10.5 battery, charged via the USB-C connector, is 6150 mAh. Separately, Samsung focuses on the presence of a child mode in which parents have the ability to control what their child does on the tablet.
Dimensions are 245x149x7.5 mm with a mass of 460 g. A fresh Android Pie with the One UI shell is also installed here.
The Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019) model will also be offered in the version with an LTE modem, but for € 270.
